at Anza Borrego Desert State Park
Spring is already here in San Diego, and with it some great opportunities to snap some images of your favorite field of flowers in Southern California.
Photographing the wildflowers in Anza Borrego State Park is one of my favorite things to do, and 2010 is predicted to be another good year for Southern California wildflowers in Anza Borrego desert. The peak bloom should last from around March 6 to March 21, but you will see different species bloom at different times. The ocotillos are blooming, and many desert lily plants are starting to bloom. Be sure to bring your camera. There are nice hiking trails, such as Palm Canyon Trail and Elephant Trees Trail, and an interesting underground visitors center near Borrego Springs.

Carlsbad Field of Flowers
The annual burst of color at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad is a favorite sight for locals in San Diego North County, welcoming the arrival of spring here in Southern California. The best time to visit should be mid March to mid April, depending on the weather conditions. The brilliant quilt of colors make a perfect backdrop for some fantastic pictures.Also consider visiting during one of the Flower Field special events, but come early to beat the crowds! Kids’ Day at the Carlsbad Field of Flowers is Saturday March 27 2010, or join an Arts & Crafts Fair on April 10, 11, 17 or 18. For more information see Carlsbad Field of Flowers.

Windansea Beach - If you enjoy beach photography, consider a visit to Windansea Beach in La Jolla during low tide March 25 – 28. Windansea Beach has interesting rock formations that are best seen at low tide, making a stunning background for some San Diego beach photography.
