Coronado Beach San Diego a California Best Beach
Coronado City Beach is one of the California Best Beaches, and is rated one of the top ten beaches in the world. The wide beach with its stunning view of San Diego Bay, is set in upscale Coronado, and is home of the world famous Hotel del Coronado.
The north section of the beach is one of the best San Diego dog beaches, allowing unleashed dogs.
Del Mar City Beach California Best Beach
Del Mar is an upscale but quaint community or village 20 miles north of San Diego, home of the Del Mar racetrack. Families love the Del Mar City Beach, with the deep sandy beaches at the south end near 15th Street, that stretch all the way north to 29th street. Powerhouse and Seagrove Parks are right nearby, and have shady grass areas that are perfect for picnics. The nearby village of Del Mar has fine shopping and restaurants, including Jakes and Poseidon restaurants overlooking the beach. This is one of the best beaches in Del Mar and San Diego.
Blacks Beach San Diego California
Black’s Beach is a world-famous secluded nude beach located in San Diego just north of La Jolla. The bluffs are very scenic and the beach is popular for walking and running. Above the beach is Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, with beautiful hiking trails and views. The gliders from the nearly Torrey Pines Glider Port soar along the cliffs above Black’s Beach. This popular nude beach, accessible either from a steep trial down the bluff, or a long walk along the beach, is rated a California Best Beach.
La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Kayaking
A visit to best California beaches should include a visit to La Jolla, an lovely beach community just north of San Diego. La Jolla, or The Jewel of the Pacific, has many great beaches, but my favorite is La Jolla Shores Beach a popular beach for swimming, surfing, kayaking and bodyboarding. The water is the clearest in San Diego due to the kelp forests, so you can snorkel in La Jolla waters. Swamis Best California Beaches San Diego Surf Spots
Swami's surf spot in Encinitas California is one of the top beaches in California for surfing. Immortalized in the Beach Boys song Surfin' USA, it is a popular haunt of avid surfers. While there are many San Diego area beaches with excellent surfing spots, Swami's stands out with its surfer memorial, parking lot full of old surfing vans, and most importantly, its great waves!
Pacific Beach San Diego California
If you want to be where the action is, Pacific Beach or P.B., is the place to be, one of the top beaches in California, and a fun beach community. A narrow boardwalk lines the beach and is full of skateboarders, roller bladers, joggers and bike riders. There are many San Diego beach shops, beach rentals, and surf shops. Pacific Beach and San Diego Gas Lamp district have the hottest nightclubs and best San Diego restaurants.
Mission Beach San Diego California
Mission Beach in San Diego is one of the California Best Beaches because it is so much fun! This beachfront playground has nice sandy beach bordered by a long seawall and cement boardwalk, with local beach front shops and restaurants. You can eat an ice cream cone on the beach, ride the Belmont Park Giant Dipper rollercoaster or enjoy a picnic in nearby Mission Bay Park.
Ocean Beach California
Ocean Beach in San Diego is a friendly, comfortable beach with lots of sand, surf, and a long boardwalk. At the north end is the original San Diego Dog Beach, where you will see dogs of all types enjoying the beach without being leashed. For dogs and dog lovers, this is one of the best beaches in California (Coronado Dog Beach is great too).
